The trail starts at Jaffa Gate where the visitor can see Jerusalem Castle built by Mamluk Sultan Mohamed Bin Qalawoon. The visitor then will continue to the Arab shops through the small Alon Market and Al-Silsleh Road leading to a Mamluk school. Turning left, the visitor reaches to Al-Qatanin Market leading to Al-Qatanin Gate which was built in the Mamluk period by Prince Qutuz in the middle of the market. In the middle of the market as well, there is Hamam Al-Ain (Al-Ain Bath) which can be reached by stairs to discover other rooms in the bath.
Ziqaq is a project that aims to create a reliable source of information about the Old City of Jerusalem in both Arabic and English through an easy to use ICT application. The project has the power to attract young people’s attention with the goal of raising the awareness of relevant stakeholders including youth about the daily lives of the Jerusalemite community. The application includes maps, photos, and information about the landmarks of the Old City and the reality of the political situation in it guaranteeing an enjoyable experience for the users of the application. Ziqaq can be accessed through a website, application on smart phones, iPads, or tablets.
